These groups have as their goal to stop abusive behavior. A cognitive/behavioral approach serves as the backbone for treatment approaches.
Strategies for Self Improvement and Change
This is an evidence-based, highly structured three to four-phase treatment program specifically designed to help the criminal offender who also experiences alcohol and/or drug use problems.
Cognitive Strategies/Anger Seminar
This is an 8-Hour, one day seminar. The objectives of this class is to have clients understand their anger, accept responsibility for it, and learn skills to manage it. It is based on the idea that clients need to use self-management skills to control their anger - rather than rely on other people or outside forces to accommodate them. Virtually everyone experiences anger at some level, and anger can be a healthy emotion. However, as Aristotle said: "anyone can become angry - that is the easy part. But to be angry with the right person, to the right degree, at the right time, for the right purpose, and in the right way - that is not so easy". In that light, the goal of this class is to help clients get to know and understand their anger, accept responsibility for it, and then use their skills to express it appropriately.
Relapse Prevention/Recovery Skills/Aftercare
Outpatient groups focusing on recovery skills for the individual ready to initiate and sustain an alcohol/drug free lifestyle and as a support group for relapse prevention.
Seeking Safety (Women only)
The approach is one of evidence-based, cognitive behavioral treatment and education that will also include aspects of case management, as we will be addressing outside issues that could be barriers to recovery, such as domestic violence, unemployment, child care, transportation, etc. Clients do not necessarily have to meet full formal criteria for current Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and substance abuse for the group to be beneficial.
Woman's Addiction (Women only)
Is a component of our Seeking Safety program but is also appropriate for aftercare and support services for women with substance abuse histories who may not need the trauma component.
Enhanced Outpatient Program
Clients attend two 2-Hour group sessions plus one individual session per week for 18 weeks then the Aftercare program weekly for a minimum of eight weeks.
Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) Evaluations and Treatment
In our Craig location only, we can help you with all of your DOT-Mandated regulations regarding substance abuse. From policies to assessments/evaluations to treatment.

Martin Sheen’s Inspires The Youth
Many of our youth today will be leaders of our next generation. We Day, is a special annual event that began in 2007. It was designed for young people around the globe to unite together and find inspiration. Many iconic figures speak at the event in order to encourage children to take action in their communities and the world. We day has evolved into a very important “ Youth Empowerment” organization. Martin Sheen, best known as an actor and a political activist was one of the many speakers who spoke for the event. He spoke at the 2010 Vancouver We Day event in front of 18,000 students. Sheen’s overall speech was effective when it came to his usage in pathos, and creativity but could have had better body language. The audience embraced him and were capable of connecting with him.
Sheen was capable of emotionally connecting with the audience by using pathos. Pathos was one of the most important aspects that was consistently used throughout the speech. He provides background information about his upbringing and his family. It gives the audience some type of background knowledge and emotional connection towards sheen. "Of course if you grew up in a large poor immigrant family chances are you're either Irish, Catholic or Hispanic and I was lucky enough to be both." this is a brief example of pathos. He eventually began to get more in depth with his personal experiences. Another example was when he spoke about his parents. He opens his life and family up to the audience that they can understand and connect with him. "My father was Francisco Estevez... He was born in Northern Spain on a little village called the go on July 2, 1898... My mother was Mary and Fallon she was born May 22, 1903 on a tiny village in the center of the Irish republic."
Martin Sheen’s choice of vocabulary was a great way to paint a picture for all the students. The speech was covered with creative wording which created vivid images that intrigued everyone. "My fondest wish for each and every one of the young people here today, is that you will find something in your life worth fighting for, because when you do, you will have discovered a way to unite the will of the Spirit to the work of the flesh and all of humanity would have discovered fire for the second time.” He continued his one-of-a-kind speech by saying, "...it is my profound wish the light from that fire will illuminate your path to that place where the heart is without fear and the head held high..."
Martin Sheen's body language was not so strong compared to other factors. He did not interact to his full potential. There was good interaction during the opening when he marched across the stage holding up the sign. Because he kept to himself and did not express himself physically, it affected his performance. It would have benefited him if the crowd would have felt his movements. This was a major setback for sheen in his performance.
Martin Sheen was able to accomplish an overall great speech. Not only did he reach students who attended the we day event. His message also reached those who stood on the outside. The purpose of The speech was to encourage everyone to find something in their lives that is worth sacrifice. commitment, and determination. We day is an inspirational moment where students can learn and grow from their experiences, and continue to have those experiences in life. It is a place where unity is strong and new bonds and friendships are formed. It is a place to ponder and to listen to people who have found inspiration within themselves and have used that inspiration to help others. The Children of today are the leaders of tomorrow, the future inspiration, the voice of the people. We Day has accomplished one major goal in todays world. This goal is inspiring the young people of todays society to inspire themselves and others.
